This is absolutely crazy! ROBINHOOD KILLED SOMEONE This 2021 CNBC article reports that Robinhood agreed to pay nearly $70 million to FINRA (the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority) to settle allegations that it caused “widespread and significant harm” to customers. The settlement also referenced the case of a young trader (widely reported as Alex Kearns) who died by suicide in 2020 after seeing a displayed negative cash balance of about $730,000. FINRA said that balance was inaccurate and that the actual position value was roughly half of what the app showed. I’m going to pair this with GME because after this incident GameStop got fined for a similar incident by FINRA.
